Old photo but still accurate!

Last pieces of the puzzle!

Today I finally ordered the last two things that I want for my room in Lund with some of the money i got for christmas, so excited! They will totally make my room come together!
My room might look like a showroom at IKEA but who cares :)

So far almost all my furniture is white so I really felt like I needed a colorful sofa/''armchair'' to ''liven the place up'' and also the walls are white and the floor pale blue (you can't really expect much more when you live in a dorm) so you really get the feeling of being cold when you walk in which I hate so the rug will be perfect since it's 2 meters in diameter = huge!
Love love love!

Christmasy (lemon) Cupcakes

I was asked to make cupcakes for the Christmas celebration we were going to. After a very failed attempt of making cupcakes that tasted ''christmasy'' I just decided to make lemon ones and they turned out great! (except that I got really stressed when I made the decorations so they weren't as great as I would have wanted them to be, just realized that that med me sound like such a perfectionist!).

How you make them:

You will need:
For the cake:
100 grams unsalted butter
130 grams sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
lemon zest from one lemon and the juice
200 grams flour
1.5 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
60 ml milk

For the frosting:
120 grams softened and unsalted butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
230 grams confectioners sugar
2 teastoons milk or light cream
1 teaspoon flour
lemon zest from one lemon (you can add the juice too if you want to)

How to make them:
Step1: Preheat your oven to 175 degrees Celsius.
Step2: Mix the butter and sugar until it becomes an even paste,
add one egg at the time and keep mixing about 2 minutes between each egg has been added. Add the vanilla extract and the lemon zest.
Step3: Mix he flour, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl and add it (but not all at once). Last but not least add the lemon juice and the milk.
Step4: Fill the cups to about 2/3 and then just put them in the oven for about 20 minutes. Take them out and let them cool before you add the frosting.

How to make the frosting:
Step1: Soften the butter in a microwave or just leave it out till it becomes room temperature.
Step2:Sift the confectioner sugar and add it to the butter then add the vanilla extract, salt, flour, milk/cream , lemon zest.

(!!) If you want to add the lemon juice you have to be really carefully and just add a tiiiiny bit at a time so it doesn't curdle!

Step3: If you want it to have a certain color just add food coloring.

Last but not least:
Pipe the frosting onto the cupcake!
If you want to make some kind of decoration I just use marzipan and blend it together with some food coloring.

Hope they turn out great!

Mirror mirror on the wall

Something I've always loved about my friend Wendela's house is that her family has a huge gold mirror in the livingroom with a lot of old fashioned and beautiful masks hanging around it and it is absolutely gorgeous!

Pancake time at Wendela's, so delicious!

Wendela and her adorable little dog who's name i can't even pronounce!

New day - New things

Today - new haircut! Or I actually went back to my old one.
I guess it's going to get some time to get used to it again since I haven't had bangs for about two years but oh well.

             Before                                                                    After

Smoothie time!

Healthy and delicious Smoothie!

Throw these ingredients into a blender and mix mix mix!

About 100 grams of frozen raspberry's
one kiwi (without the peel obviously)
the juice from one orange
About a teaspoon of lemon juice
One banana

Just getting started.

My friend an I were having lunch at a place here in Luxembourg called Coffee Lounge today and she gave me the idea to start a blog, so that's what I did when I got home.

My obsession for baking and doing my nails really isn't healthy for me but just way to much fun to stop it so you are going to see a lot of pictures of things like that. Also I've always loved decorating anything from my cupcakes to my room, the small things are what make the big things what they are.
That's why I choose to name the blog "Violet Details".

Recipes, pictures of food and Decor and with some fashion thrown into the mix, sounds just like a really girly blog, there are probably hundreds of other blogs out there just like mine but I hope you'll enjoy it anyway!

Love, Sofia
